As in Karate also in Kobudo the Kata is the soul of the Art. In fact Karate and Kobudo are not the separate things which they are seems to be. Okinawan   masters   of   Kobudo   are   also   masters   of   Karate.   And   Kobudo   is   the   much   more   versatile   fighting   Art.   Though   the   main   goal   is   the   using   of weapons   in   combat,   but   also   weaponless   actions   can   be   part   of   the   Kobudo.   A   lot   of   the   techniques   with   weapons,   can   be   used   with   only   low changes   as   weaponless   fighting   techniques.   The   principles   are   identical   to   the   principles   the   Karate   works   with.   So   it   wouldn't   be   wrong   to   say   that the Karate can  be a  part of the Kobudo. In question of Kobudo there are also influences by chinese fighting methods. But this isn't as much as in case of Karate. The   most   Kobudo   Kata   has   been   developed   by   Kobudo   masters   of   Okinawa.   And   there   are   only   a   few   schools,   like   the   Yamanni   Ryu,   which   has   their roots directly in China. Meanwhile there is a very versatile Kobudo in many different schools. And also the techniques will be done in different ways. There   is   no   question   about   what   is   right   and   what   is   wrong,   but   the   question   what   is   best   for   to   use   for   which   goal   and   which   technique   ist   the   one which   can   deal   best   with   my   personal   skills.   If   a   technique   creates   the   right   effect   it   is   the   right   one,   even   if   it   looks   different   to   the   technique   we know.
